What sets VVS apart is screen golf — there are four screen rooms. You sing and play a round in the same room, which is rare for a Korean-run karaoke in Hanoi.

It costs no extra. A screen room is charged at the same room rate as a regular singing room. You are not paying a premium for the equipment.

That changes how a night runs. In a big group the mic never comes back around: a few people sing and everyone else just drinks. Here there is something else to do. Whoever wants to sing sings, and the rest play a round.

It shows most when you are entertaining clients. One guest who does not sing can flatten the whole room, but almost everyone will take a swing at golf, and that keeps the conversation going.

The venue is not small either — 26 singing rooms plus 4 screen rooms, 30 in total. If your group needs to split across rooms, it all still happens under one roof.

The line-up of hostesses is fully permanent. It is not a different set of faces each night, so it is easy to ask for someone you got on with last time.

A Korean-speaking manager is on site, so ordering and settling up does not come down to hand gestures. You can ask what else is being added before you agree to it.

It is easy to find, too. Tell a taxi driver "Glory Hotel" and they will know it. The hotel name is spelled out across the front of the building, so it stands out even at night.
